Every woman wants a home. Every woman wants a place to call her own, a sanctuary, a refuge. A safe harbour in a financial storm. And once she has it, a woman will cherish it above all her other possessions. But what happens when her home is threatened?
Zulaikha loves her home and despite the many obstacles in her life, she manages to hold on to it. Faced with a situation she cannot fight alone, she chooses Madeline, an American woman who visits her house in Lahore for a wedding, as her instrument of salvation. But unsuspecting Madeline could never comprehend the twists that Zulaikha will introduce into her life to serve her own ends. And as Madeline journeys from her native San Francisco to Lahore then to London, her life takes on new meanings and new purposes.
Are the choices we make a function of fate? Or are there other forces, such as Zulaikha, who dictate what lives we lead?
